Manufacturing the dials and hands
A gold plate drawn, programmed, machined and finished entirely by hand constitutes the base of the dial. Soldering, traditional grand feu enamelling, using a brush to hand draw the numerals and hours, and firing to bond all require great know-how, since the result is only really visible after firing. Every line has a specific dial design. For the Manufactura 1528, the 13-part dial is a masterpiece in its own right. Competentia 1515 is equipped with a dial made from 11 grand feu enamelled parts bent onto 18 ct solid gold strips. Furthermore, it has an extremely rare feature in prestige watchmaking: its central part is made from grand feu enamelled plique-à-jour, an ancient art used by very few craftsmen.
