Engraving

This job has inherited centuries of know-how, combined with new technologies, to joyfully draw on the past for inspiration while blending it with contemporary aesthetic designs. Engraving on metal is a decorative process based on material removal. The engraver traces out patterns or characters onto the precious metals, in hollow or relief, using sharp, very fine steel tools of various shapes: gravers and chisels. In this way they transform practically rough components into miniature sculptures which will take their place in the heart of the watch. In watchmaking, the engraver works nearly exclusively by hand.
